Review of location of polling stations needed – Cllr Gerry McMonagle

A local Councillor is calling on the location of polling stations in the Letterkenny Municipal District to be reviewed.
Sinn Fein Councillor Gerry McMonagle proposed the motion calling for the council to request a review of polling stations from the local electoral office.
Councillor McMonagle says that the location of polling stations in the Letterkenny Municipal District needs to be reviewed in order to keep up to date with changing demographics and population movements.
Cllr. McMonagle called on a review to take place, he said that this is about encouraging people to vote and we need to discuss this and look at ways and means that we can make it easier for people who vote.
The motion was seconded by Sinn Fein Councillor Mick Quinn who said everyone is encouraged as much as possible to exercise their franchise for a large variety of elections.”
