The Ulster Council have turned down the request from the Donegal County Board to have the preliminary round tie, involving the Donegal winners this coming Sunday in the provincial Intermediate Championship postponed.
The Intermediate Championship Final in the county on Sunday last ended in a draw, which resulted in a replay fixed for this Saturday back at the O’Donnell Park in Letterkenny.
The winners, be it Milfiord or Burt, are scheduled to play in the preliminary round of Ulster the next day against Down Champions Beragh.
Donegal Chairman Sean Dunnion confirmed to Highland Sport this morning, that the provincial body last night turned down a request to put back Sunday’s game.
It’s understood Beragh will also have players involved in an Ulster hurling fixture the following Sunday.
It’s not a situation that is new to Donegal winners. In 2014 Cloughaneely beat Buncrana in the Intermediate Final and the next day also took victory against Castledawson in Ulster.
