Sean Houston scored twice against his former club as Harps picked up a vital win over Bray Wanderers at Finn Park on Friday night.
It was a brilliant result for Ollie Horgan’s side and with Wexford Youths beaten 4-1 by St. Patrick’s Athletic, the Donegal side are now firm favourites to survive in the top flight. They now have an eight-point lead over Wexford with only four games to play.
Houston headed Harps in front from an Adam Hanlon free kick on 12 minutes. The home side had other chances through Ryan Curran, Barry Molloy and Houston again during an entertaining first half.
Bray though, played well too and could have drawn level when Ciaran Gallagher saved a Hugh Douglas header.
Houston added his second from close range midway through the second half.
Harps though, were forced to endure a nervy closing 15 minutes when substitute Dean Kelly scored on 74.
Bray had late claims for a penalty waved away as Harps held out for the win.
