There has been growing opposition to a planned Oyster Farm at Cruit Island.
Donegal Deputy Pearse Doherty says he will challenge the Minister for the Marine’s decision to not require an Environmental Impact Statement as part of the plans submitted for consideration.
Planning permission has been requested for an Oyster Farm at Cruit Island.
Opposition has been growing among local residents and now Sinn Féin Finance Spokesperson Deputy Pearse Doherty says that he will challenge why an Environmental Impact Statement was not requested as part of plans submitted. waived by Minister for the Marine, Michael Creed.
Deputy Doherty says Minister Creed’s decision is highly questionable as the proposed site is located within a Special Area of Conservation.
It has been confirmed that the application has now gone to Public Consultation, with submission from the public being accepted until October 17th.
