Dundalk dropped what could prove to be two vital points in the League of Ireland Premier Division title race last night.
Despite dominating for large spells, Stephen Kenny’s side had to come from behind to draw 1-1 with Shamrock Rovers at Oriel Park.
The result leaves Dundalk with a five-point lead over Cork City, but have now played a game more than the Leesiders.
The draw also keeps Rovers in the hunt for a European spot. They now sit two points behind third placed Derry City with the same games played.
Derry play Dundalk at Oriel Park this Friday while Rovers meet Galway in Dublin. The two sides will then meet at the Brandywell next Tuesday 27th September.
