Man arrested in Derry following report of an assault with a hatchet this morning

A 31 year-old man has been arrested following an incident in the Chapel Road area of Derry in the early hours of this morning.
The man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, aggravated burglary and common assault.
It follows a report to police shortly before 4am of a man attacking another man with a hatchet. One man received treatment for cuts to his arm and face.
Detectives are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed this incident, or who may have any information that could assist in our investigation, to contact detectives at Strand Road.
