Jason Smyth storms to Gold at Rio Paralympics

Jason Smyth is still the fastest Paralympian on the planet.
He stormed home to win gold in the T13 100 metres this afternoon in a time of 10.64 seconds.
It’s his third gold medal in the event and his fifth Paralympic gold in his third games.
The Eglinton man crossed the line in 10.64 seconds, finishing 0.14 ahead of Namibia’s Johannes Nambala.
The time was 0.18 seconds outside the world record he set in London four years ago.
Elsewhere Katie-George Dunleavy and Eve McCrystal cycled a personal best in the 1,000 metre time trial this afternoon but finished in 7th place.
Dunleavy’s father comes from Mountcharles.
