People are being reminded of the serious damage marine litter can have on our environment following the discovery of a dead seal at the beach in Malin Head.
A passer-by came across the seals corpse with discarded rope around its neck.
It’s believed the rope had been in the sea for some time and the seal got caught in it and later died.
The person who made the discovery immediately contacted Donegal County Council.
In light of the incident, Coastal Programmes Officer with An Taisce Olivia Crossan says marine litter can come from a number of sources.
