Donegal Rally Ace Manus Kelly launches Loreto 5k Special guest Manus Kelly Students , Parents committee and Principal, Nora Friel at the launch of the Loreto Secondary School, Letterkenny Annual 5K road Race / Fun Run and Walk which will take place on Tuesday next, 13th September, starting at 7.30pm. This year the event has been included as part of the Athletics Grand Prix series. This fund raising event has grown in popularity and a large turnout is expected. The route is the same as last year with the Start and Finsih at the Back Gate entrance to the School. This year the Race will be started by Manus Kelly, winner of the Donegal International Car Rally. All participants will be 'chipped' so everyone will be able to find out how fast they were! The Entry fees are: Runners 8 euro, Walkers 5 euro and Family 20 euro. There will be category prizes for the runners and spot prizes for the walkers. The presentation of prizes and refreshments will take place in the school lobby afterwards. For the less athletic among us this cuppa can be the ideal opportunity to meet up with people we haven't seen since last year! The funds raised will be used to purchase a large Digital Display Monitor which will be mounted in the Lobby area of the school. This expensive piece of equipment will be used to keep students up to date on happenings throughout the school and to promote all of the personal and team achievements taking place throughout the school year. The Parents' Association have been working hard to organise this event and they would like to thank everyone for their help and support, Letterkenny Athletic Club for their assistance in organising the event, the following sponors, Michael Murphy Sports, Golden Grill / Tinneys Oil, Value Centre, ISS Cleaning Services, Global Tiles, Mount Errigal Hotel, CBM Signs, Magees Chemist, Brendan McGlynn, Brian McCormick Sports. Crumlish Appliances, Marks & Spencers, Get Fresh and of course all of the volunteers and students who will help to steward the route and help with the refreshments on the night. Photo Brian McDaid
