Northwest MEP calls for different route on Apple tax

Marian HarkinThe Cabinet has formally agreed to appeal the Apple Tax ruling to the European Courts.
The Dáil will be recalled next Wednesday to debate and vote on a motion endorsing the appeal and rejecting any back door attempts by Brussels to attack Ireland’s 12.5% corporate tax rate.
After intense discussions in advance of today’s meeting, Ministers took just 30 minutes to agree to launch the appeal.
One Irish MEP for the Northwest is calling on the government to take a different route to challenge the European Commission’s decision regarding Apple’s tax dealings in Ireland.
Independent MEP Marian Harkin is urging the government to seek clarification from the European Court of Justice on the issue, rather than mounting an appeal:
