Man shot in ankles in Derry ‘punishment’ shooting

Police are appealing for information following a paramilitary type shooting that occurred in the Culdaff Gardens area of Derry on Monday .
At approximately 10.35pm, police received a report that a 40 year old man had been shot in both ankles in the area.
It is believed that four masked men were involved in the shooting.
The 40 year old man has been taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.
Councillor Colly Kelly has condemned the shooting and says it is not what the people of the area want:
