Championship set to go the distance for Rhys Irwin

Rhys Irwin
It was another eventful weekend for Irwin Racing in Angelsea, Wales, with Rhys and Caolan having mixed fortunes on the track.
In the Superteen category, Rhys took pole on day 1, crashed in race 1 after being taken out by a back marker but recovered in race 2 to finish second.
There was high drama on day 2 as Rhys and fellow championship contender JJ Scott collided in race 1 to take each other out but Rhys recovered in race 2 to storm home to win from flag to flag and keep the pressure on Scott at the top of the standings.
In the 450 Aprilia UK Championship, Caolan had a difficult few days.
It started brightly with a pole position and a fourth place finish in race 1 but after that, engine failure lead to a second dnf of the season.
The bike was unable to be fixed for the rest of the competition as it requires a full engine rebuild.
It’s been a disappointing couple of rounds for Caolan who just a few weeks ago was on course for a podium finish to the season.
As for Rhys, the championship in the Superteens looks set to go to the wire with two rounds remaining.
