Harps thumped by Derry in north-west derby

Derry City emerged with the bragging rights from the north-west derby – thank largely to the tonic of two first half penalties from Aaron McEneff.
Austrian Lukas Schubert was the playmaker in both incidents and he even got on the scoresheet at the end.
On 18 minutes,  Schubert was clipped by Ciaran Coll and from the resulting penalty – disputed by Harps – McEneff fired past Richard Brush.
The visitors struck again on 43 minutes with Schubert chopped down by former Candystripes legend Barry Molloy, and McEneff again obliged.
Nathan Boyle made it it 3-0 on 53 minutes while Schubert added the fourth on 86 minutes and Derry completed the rout with a fifth from substitute Keith Ward just before the end.
This result boosts Derry City’s hopes of European football next season while Harps will need a quick change of fortunes if they are to avoid being sucked into the relegation quagmire.
