Racing: First winner for Donegal trainer

Jason Cairns won’t forget yesterday in a hurry as the Castlefinn handler trained his first ever winner when sending out Jeremy’s Joy to win the Glasshouse Hotel Handicap at a rain-soaked Sligo.
The only mount on the card for Kilcock jockey Robbie Downey, Jeremys Joy was sent off at odds of 9-1 and he registered a third success in a 17-race career for her third different trainer.
Relishing the testing conditions, she came home seven lengths clear of the second Miss Ballygally with Alishan a further four lengths back in third.
