Audio update – Pringle criticises health minister’s planned attendance at clinic opening

Health Minister Simon Harris visits Donegal today for the official opening of the Affidea Clinic at Scally Place in Letterkenny.
Affidea say the clinic employs 10 people, and will serve as a primary care diagnostic scanning facility, offering MRI, Ultrasound and X-ray. Approximately 50 per cent of the patients are covered by private health insurance, the rest are public patients who pay an additional fee to skip lengthy waiting lists.
However, the visit has been criticised by Deputy Thomas Pringle, who claims the Health Minister is supporting private health provision in the North West, while public health services remain under- resourced.
Deputy Pringle argues Minister Harris’s attendance at today’s event is a signal that Fine Gael plans to pursue a privatisation agenda within the health service………
