Under 19 League of Ireland Northern Division result: Finn Harps 1 – 0 St Patrick’s Athletic
Finn Harps ace Declan Sharkey scored a wonder goal today, straight from the kick-off, to beat table toppers St Pat’s.
Declan, from Falcarragh, revealed on Highland Radio today that he told his team-mate Sam Murphy to knock it straight to him because he saw the St Pat’s goalie off his line.
Fans have already compared the schoolboy’s goal to a similar effort by Brazil legend Pele, whose effort failed, and that of ex-Manchester United player David Beckham, who scored from the halfway line.
His manager Joe Boyle said Declan arrowed his daisy cutter into the bottom corner of the net, with the ball not getting more than a few inches above the ground.
He said it is the fastest goal that he has ever seen and described it as “amazing” and praised his “unbelievable technique”.
They spoke with Sunday Sport presenter Myles Gallagher…
