Institute lost out to Ballinamallard United in a dramatic finish to the Premiership Promotion Relegation Play Off at Ferney Park on Wednesday night.
Having trailed 2-1 on aggregate from the first leg, Stute leveled the tie seventeen minutes into the game with a goal from Jamie Dunne.
Ballinamallard hit back through Emmett Friars in the 22nd minute but just six minutes later Gareth Brown had the Drumahoe club back in front.
Cathal Beacom’s penalty on the hour levelled the leg but also put Mallard 4-3 up on aggregate.
Institute went ahead for the third time two minutes later as Shane McGinty’s long range cracker hit the back of the net to put his side ahead on away goals scored.
It looked like they were heading for the Premiership of the Irish League only for Steven Feeney to score deep in injury time to keep the Fermanagh side in the top flight winning the two legged tie 5-4.
