Teenage boy to appear in court today charged with spate of offences including assault on police

A 16 year old boy is due to appear in Derry Magistrates Court today charged with a spate of offences including aggravated vehicle taking and assault on police.
The charges relate to a number of incidents of burglary and theft in the Galliagh, Buncrana Road and Ballymagroarty areas of Derry on Thursday night and during the early hours of yesterday morning.
In total, the boy has been charged with 5 counts of burglary, aggravated vehicle taking, causing damage to the vehicle, 2 counts of theft, 3 counts of criminal damage, assault on police and interference with vehicles.
As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
Two other males, aged 15 and 20 also arrested at the time have been released on Police bail pending further enquiries.
