Danniella Westbrook has blasted reports that she was axed just two weeks after returning to EastEnders, saying she was only contracted for four episodes.
Danniella had returned to the soap as Sam Mitchell to film funeral scenes for Dame Barbara Windsor’s departure as matriarch Peggy, due to air on Tuesday May 17.
The Sun had claimed that Danniella was sacked after just two weeks for “unprofessional behaviour” including turning up on set two hours late and bringing along her young new boyfriend, George Arnold.
An anonymous source reportedly told the paper: “Danniella is gone after only two weeks — it was her last day of filming on Saturday and she won’t be back.
“This is a huge opportunity lost for Danniella, who was being given another chance to prove herself. But she failed miserably.”
Danniella hit back at the rumours on Twitter, stating that she was only contracted to do two weeks’ work on the soap and was not “sacked or axed”.
She called the claims from the anonymous source “c**p” in another tweet.
“The c**p story a supposed source has given is just that C**P! I came back for the 4 episodes they needed me for & my last day was Saturday,” she wrote.
Danniella suggested she had moved on from EastEnders as she hinted at a new soap home. Could the cobbles be calling?
A spokeswoman for Danniella said the actress was considering legal action against the claims.
She said: “She was not sacked, she was booked and contracted for the episodes and that is it.
“We are going legal, to print these lies is terrible.”
An EastEnders spokeswoman declined to comment.
