Warning signs placed on Bád Eddie

Signs warning people not to touch Bád Eddie have been placed on the boat which was grounded on Magheraclogher Beach in Bunbeg in the 1970s.
For decades, the boat has been one of the focal points for visitors to the area, but it has deteriorated substantially in recent years, and is now in a dangerous condition.
There are longer term peoposals to move the remnants of the boat and replace it with a replica, but for now, Cllr Michael Cholm Mac Giolla Easbuig says signs warning of the health and safety risk have been placed on the structure.
Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuig is calling for discussions on the future of the iconic boat, while Cllr John Sheamais O’Fearraigh says he will continue to press for a suitable replica to be located on the beach, and the wreckage safely removed.
