Crime statistics reveal an increase in sexual and drug offences in Dongal

There was a fall in the number of burglaries recorded in the Donegal in the last three months of last year compared to the same period in 2014.
The number of assaults also fell but there was an increase in sexual offences, drug offences, cases of drink driving and cases of theft.
In the last three months of 2015 there were 83 burglaries recorded in Donegal, a fall of 10 on the same period the year before.
243 thefts were recorded an increase of 5, but thefts from shops fell slightly.
The number of assaults recorded was 163, a significant fall of 28 on the last three months of 2014.
Drink driving cases increased – up 23 in a year to a total of 88. There were 51 controlled drugs offences, a jump of 12.
Public order and other social code offences increased – 292 recorded in the last three months of 2015, up almost 10% compared to 2014 – the majority of these offences were for disorderly conduct.
19 sexual offences were recorded, a significant increase of 8 on the three months to the end of 2014.
