Finn Harps beat Longford Town 1-0 in this entertaining Premier Division game at Finn Park.
Longford had the better of the early exchanges with Philip Gannon shooting just over the target while Richard Brush was forced to make a decent save to deny Josh O’Hanlon.
Harps’ best chances before the break fell to David Scully and Ryan Curran.
Harps piled on the pressure just after the interval with Scully constantly causing problems and Paul Skinner in the Longford goal had to be on his guard.
Harps deservedly took the lead on 58 minutes when Ethan Boyle was taken down by Daniel O’Reilly inside the box and Ryan Curran duly obliged by slotting in the resulting penalty.
Longford almost equalised on 68 minutes with a cracking Kealon Dillon shot that was just wide.
Both sides had further chances – with Adam Hanlon squandering a couple of decent efforts for the home side.
Longford pushed hard in the close stages but Harps managed to hold on for their second home league win of the campaign.
Harps have seven points from their first five games.
