The funerals will take place later today of the five members of the same extended Derry family who tragically lost their lives when their car went off the slipway at Buncrana pier on Sunday last.

A funeral service will take place at Holy Family Church, Ballymagroarty for Sean McGrotty and his two young sons Mark and Evan, along with their grandmother Ruth Daniels and her daughter Jodie Lee in Derry at 2pm and they will be laid to rest in two graves at the City Cemetery.

Holy Family Parish Priest Fr Paddy O'Kane is a family friend and will officiate at today's funerals.

He's been comforting Mr Mc Grotty's partner, Louise James.......

Archbishop Eamon Martin, Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All-Ireland was in Derry last night to visit family members.

Archbishop Martin, himself a native of Derry, said he wanted to express the closeness of so many of the people of Ireland to Louise and the extended family and friends of Mark, Evan, Jodie-Lee, Ruth and Sean.

He signed the book of condolence at Holy Family Church, and met with Bishop of Derry Donal McKeown and Fr Paddy O'Kane.
