Thousands of people took to the streets of Donegal today on one of the sunniest St Patrick’s Days in living memory.
In Derry, Deputy Mayor Alderman Thomas Kerrigan and Councillor Sandra Duffy represented the council, as Mayor Elisha Mc Callion is attending St Patrick’s Day celebrations in the US.
Before the main parade, the Apprentice Boys held a Service of Thanksgiving and Dedication carrying the St Patrick’s Cross flag on its annual parade from Society Street to St Columb’s Cathedral.
Nationally, hundreds of thousands of people have been celebrating, with millions more joining in around the world.
Parades have been going on all afternoon and the festivities will likely continue well into tonight as well.
