Derry and Strabane seek designation as European Youth Capital 2019

youth capital bid
Derry City and Strabane District Council has formally launched a bid for the area to be named European Youth Capital in 2019.
Mayor Elisha McCallion says if successful, Derry, Strabane and surrounding areas including Donegal could reap huge economic and social benefits.
The bid team says lessons learned during the city’s time as UK City of Culture will stand to them, as will the experience of a previous bid in 2010.
The council says a successful designation would help us lay the foundations for young people’s involvement in developing and shaping policy that will become a core component of all future Community Plans.
Emma Mc Laughlin is a project officer on the bid team……………..
