A6 upgrade and Dungiven bypass to proceed

Transport Minister Michelle McIlveen today announced the £400million A6 Derry to Dungiven upgrade is to proceed, subject to future funding.
The announcement follows public inquiries into proposals to provide around 18.6 miles of new dual carriageway from Derry to Dungiven, including a dual carriageway bypass of Dungiven.
Minister Mc Ilveen says this announcement is very good news for the north-west and for the wider economy in Northern Ireland. The A6 is a key transport route between Belfast and the north-west and the construction of a new dual carriageway will help to reduce journey times and improve road safety.
