Donegal’s hurlers lose narrowly on opening day

Donegal’s hurlers began their National Hurling League campaign with a narrow loss against Mayo.

New manager Ardal McDermott spoke immediately afterwards to Sunday Sport about his disappointment at the Division 2B defeat in Castlebar.

McDermott’s players led 5-3 in the first half, but Mayo hit five points without response for a clear half-time lead of Mayo 10 v 3 Donegal.

Donegal pulled the deficit back to four points early in the second half, making it Mayo 10 v 6 Donegal, but Christopher McDermott was sent off after two yellow cards.
