A public meeting takes place tonight in Ramelton the discuss the future of the Community Nursing Unit there.
Last week, questions were raised when a government release mentioned the centralisation of long stay beds to a new unit in Letterkenny.
Those concerns were heightened when the Health Minister said he couldn’t give ‘any cast iron guarantees’ on the future of the Ramelton unit, along with Lifford Hospital and St Joseph’s Hospital in Stranorlar.
Independent election candidate and local Councillor Ian McGarvey has organised the meeting, he says the community nursing unit has been a cornerstone of the area for many years and should remain so……..
