Man in serious condition in hospital following early morning assault

 
A man is in a serious condition in hospital following an early morning alleged assault in Derry.
The incident happened in the Waterside area of Derry in the early hours of this morning and two men have subsequently been arrested in relation to the assault.
The incident which occurred at Margaret Street, just off Spencer Road was first reported to police at approximately 5am this morning.
A man believed to be 27 was taken to hospital with a head injury – his condition has been described as serious.
Two men aged 37 and 31 have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and are assisting police with their inquiries.
The scene is currently cordoned off by police.
