Love/Hate actors Tom Vaughan-Lawlor and Aoibhinn McGinnity are set to work together again for a new 1916 drama.
The former RTE stars, who played Nidge and Trish in the crime series, are about to start shooting the historical drama, Trial Of The Century for TV3 which is set to air in April or May.
Taking on the national broadcaster’s Rebellion, the new show will follow the story of what might have happened if the Easter Rising leaders were brought in front of the courts instead of executed.
According to the Mirror, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor will play the role of Padraig Pearse while insiders have suggested Aoibhinn will portray grieving mother Catherine Foster, who lost her child during the rising.
Shooting for the two-hour courtroom drama is reported to begin this week at the Green Street Courthouse in Dublin’s Smithfield.
However that’s not the only familiar face set to star in the new series as Red Rock actor Anthony Brophy will play Eoin MacNeill.
Playing the founder of the Irish volunteers who tried to call of the rebellion, the Dubliner admitted he had to do his “homework” ahead of filming.
“I’m doing a bit of homework for that at the moment,” he told the paper.
“It’s been a pretty intense week here between one thing and another so I have to compartmentalise my brain.
