Speculation that Cllr John O’Donnell may address council meeting

Donegal County Council meets in Lifford this morning, the first full meeting of the authority since last month’s RTE Investigates TV programme, in which Cllr John O’Donnell was seen apparently agreeing to help a windfarm company obtain planning permission for a project in the county, in exchange for payment.
It’s a claim he denies.
There has been speculation that Cllr O’Donnell may use today’s meeting to make his first public statement on the issue since the programme was broadcast.
Cllr O’Donnell has no motions on the agenda for today’s meeting, but he does have one question asking about the legal costs incurred by the council in the legal challemge brought by Cllr Dessie Shiels over the cooption of Cllr Michael Mc Bride when former Senator Jimmy Harte left the council after he was elected to the Seanad.
Earlier this month, Cllr Shiels left a Letterkenny Municipal District meeting in protest at Cllr O’Donnell’s presence.
