Funeral taking place of former councillor James Mc Brearty

The funeral is taking place today of former Donegal County Councillor James McBrearty who died this week.
Mr. McBrearty was a native of Bogagh in Carrick was a lifelong member of the Fianna Fail party.
James McBrearty, a teacher for 46 years also served on Donegal County Council from 1978 to 1980 and again from 1985 to 1999. He was elected Chairperson of the council in 1990.
Mr. McBrearty retired from teaching in the 1990s but his community participation continued until his death, serving as a lifelong member of Kilcar Parish Council and working with the Killybegs Community Hospital support group.
He’ll be buried in Kilcar today after funeral Mass in St Cartha’s Church at 11am.
