Police in Derry are investigating a suspected arson attack at the rear of a house at Liscloon Drive in Shantallow this morning.

A passing police patrol noticed the fire at a shed to the rear of the property at around 6.30am this morning. Fire service personnel attended the scene a short time later and extinguished the fire.

Appealing for information, policer say while no-one was injured, it could have been more serious due to the close proximity of the oil tank to the fire.

Police are urging witnesses to contact officers at Reactive and Organised Crime in Strand Road on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
