Two truck drivers have been killed in a crash in County Monaghan, with unconfirmed reports that one of them is from Donegal.

Gardai say two trucks collided on the N2 between Carrickmacross and Castleblayney at around 6 o'clock this morning, and both male drivers were fatally injured. No ages or further details are available.

This stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place. It is expected that the road will remain closed for the next number of hours.
