Armed robbery at Derry bookmakers

Campaigners Call For Tougher Knife Laws
 
Police are appealing for information about an armed robbery at a bookmaker’s shop in Derry.
Detective Sargent Brian Reid said that at around 7.30pm yesterday, a man wearing a balaclava and armed with a large knife entered the premises at Blucher Street. He demanded money and made off with an amount in cash from the tills.
The man was described as being about 6ft tall and was wearing a dark coat and tracksuit bottoms. He made off on foot after the incident.
Anyone with information about the man, or any other suspicious activity in the area, is asked to call police at Strand Road on 101, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
