A semi-submerged mussel dredger which is believed to have sank for the second time in recent days is to be removed from the River Lennon in Ramelton Town following serious pollution concerns in the area.
The condition of the vessel ‘Rival’ has been deteriorating for some time, causing oil to seep into the river and its been claimed that it is damaging the surrounding environment.
It’s understood the Rival is to be removed by Donegal County Council and sold for scrap as effort to re-float her have failed.
Councillor Ian Mc Garvey says every effort is being done to have it removed from the area as quickly as possible:
