Daniel Mc Crossan to replace Joe Byrne as SDLP MLA for West Tyrone

The SDLP has selected West Tyrone representative Daniel McCrossan to replace Joe Byrne as West Tyrone MLA in the Assembly in the New Year.
It emerged earlier this month that Mr Byrne was stepping down for health reasons.
Mr Mc Crossan was the party’s unsuccessful candidate in West Tyrone for the last Westminister election, a selection that fuelled what’s being seen as a growing rift within the party in that constituency.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, it was confirmed that Cllr Gerard Diver will replace Pat Ramsey as MLA for Foyle, after Mr Ramsey announced he would be stepping down, also for health reasons.
