Health Minister confirms elective surgeries are to be scaled back at LUH

Leo VaradkarIt has been confirmed that Elective surgeries are to be scaled back for six weeks at Letterkenny University Hospital despite waiting lists of 15,500.
The Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar has confirmed in the Dáil that the surgeries will be scaled back during January and early February.
He was responding to Deputy Pádraig Mac Lochlainn who again claimed the move was to free up beds in the hospital to ‘avoid the embarrassing spectacle of patients on trolleys ahead of an election’.
We’ll have more on this story in later bulletins.
