Sligo Rovers have confirmed the appointment of Declan McIntryre as the club’s new assistant manager to Dave Robertson.
McIntyre is both a former player and coach at The Showgrounds.
He signed for Rovers as a player in 1980 and was in goals for the FAI Cup final of 1981.
Since retiring the Donegal man has had a long coaching career. He has previously had spells working with Derry City and Finn Harps.
He was also Rovers goalkeeping coach in 2013 as the club won the FAI Cup that year.
Declan told sligorovers.com about returning to the club again for a challenge he is excited about.
“I am really looking forward to coming back to the club. I was here as recently as two years ago when I gave Ian Baraclough a dig out. Ciaran Kelly was the goalkeeping coach then but he got an injury, I was only supposed to come for a few weeks but it turned into half a season. We won the cup that year. There is still a lot of familiar faces around the club. I know the fans as well having played a couple of times, Sligo has always been very welcoming to me.”
