Pringle says flood relief monies should be given directly to county councils

Deputy Thomas Pringle says local councils need to be given money to deal with flood damage.
In the Dail this morning, Deputy Pringle said no extra funding has been allocated to local authorities to deal with the immediate needs of towns across Donegal and elsewhere in the country.
He sais some areas of the county are flooded regularly, and lans are being drawn up to alleviate those problem areas.
However, he says, parts of Lifford were flooded where they have never been flooded before, and that’s a concern.
He says in many cases, quick temporary solutions can be introduced by Donegal County Council, but with the council forced to apply the Minor Flood Mitigation Works scheme for emergency funding, this may not be possible…….
