Government blocks Islanders from voting on the same day as mainlanders

voteDonegal’s Islanders will still have to vote ahead of those on the mainland after the Government voted against an amendment to the electoral bill 2015.
Voters on 12 offshore islands, 5 in Donegal, cast their ballots ahead of the rest of the country in case bad weather delays the journey of the ballot boxes to the count centre.
Sinn Fein says this does not just undermine the democratic rights of islanders but is also unconstitutional.
