Floods reported as wind and rain take their toll in Donegal

Heavy rain and wind have been causing some problems in Donegal over the past 24 hours.
The main national primary road between Lifford and Stranorlar is badly flooded at Castlefin, beside the CPI building. There are local diversions being set up sending cars from Stranorlor to Convoy and Raphoe and back to Lifford.
There are a number of other local routes flooded near Donnyloop, Liscooley and Ballybofey
Donegal County Council is asking motorists to take extreme caution.
Severe flooding has also been reported in Ballybofey and Donegal Town, where a number of homes were without power fo a time.
Serious flooding also reported between Ballymacool and Newmills outside Letterkenny. The football pitches at the nearby Aura Leisure Centre in Letterkenny were completely flooded this morning, closing the centre as these pictures taken by Chris Duddy this morning show.

The ESB have also been reporting problems, with 43 homes without power at present in Burtonport, 16 in Donegal Town and 31 in Glenties.
