INMO to ballot for industrial action next week over issue of overcrowding

The Irish Nurses and Midwives’ Organisation is to ballot members working in emergency departments for industrial action over the issue of overcrowding.
It follows a meeting of the INMO’s Executive Council today to seek a mandate for industrial action, up to and including the withdrawal of labour.
The level of overcrowding at Letterkenny General Hospital has been low this week but was in excess of 20 people without a bed last month.
The Deputy General Secretary of the INMO, David Hughes, says the union will carry out a nationwide ballot from next Monday:
