Derry City Reserves moved up to second in the table following this 4-1 victory over a stubborn Fanad United side in a game played in perfect conditions at Traigh-a-Loch on Tuesday evening.
Derry took the lead in the 22nd minute, Gareth McFadden played the ball into Ronan Curtis who’s superb flick was met by the on-running Ryan Curran to slid the ball past Oran Blaney.
Fanad found an equaliser on the hour mark. After a corner was cleared, Kieran Sharkey swung a great ball into the box and it was met at the back post by Seamus Friel who gave the Derry keeper no chance.
Derry reacted well to the equaliser and took the lead in the 64th minute. Matt Doherty split the Fanad defence with a pass and Ronan Curtis made no mistake with his crisp finish.
With ten minutes remaining Derry made the game safe and Curtis was again to the fore. When played through by substitute Ben Doherty, Curtis scored with a fine finish into the bottom corner.
Derry put the icing on the cake in the 93rd minute, Adrian Delap beat 2 defenders to the ball to send his header beyond the stranded Blaney.
