Unannounced hospital inspections to be introduced in Northern Ireland

Altnagelvin-Hospital-Derry
Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry, the Cayseway Hospital in Coleraine and the South West Hospital in Fermanagh are to be included in a new programme of unannounced acute hospital inspections being rolled out in Northern Ireland.
The BBC reports this morning checks will be operated by the Regulation, Quality and Improvement Authority, an independent health and social care regulator.
The inspections will focus mainly on what improvements are needed in emergency services, with each hospital being inspected at least twice in every three year period.
