Doherty wants Irish Government funding for Dublin Derry air route

The Irish Government is being urged to commit to providing funding for the proposed Derry-Dublin air route, which is expected to commence in April 2016.

Backing the call, Donegal Councillor Gary Doherty said authorities at City of Derry Airport have recently submitted a formal funding request to the Government for funding of just over £185,000 – roughly €253,000 – to subvent a new Derry to Dublin air route to serve the North West.

A similar amount is being provided by the British government.

Cllr Doherty says recent figures show such a subvention is justified.............
