National Tidy Towns trophy arrives in Letterkenny

Over 100 people gathered at Letterkenny’s Market Square tonight to welcome home the 18 members of the Letterkenny Tidy Towns committee with the National Trophy and also the Tidiest Large Town trophy which has been a goal for several years.
Committee Chairperson Anne Mc Gowan paid tribute to the volunteers, residents associations and council staff who have worked towards this for so long.
She and others also paid tribute to Jim Mc Cormick, her predecessor in the Chair who died suddenly some years ago but had dreamed of this victory for years.
She told the crowd that every effort will be made now to retain the title, and that work starts immediately……

 
Seamus Neely is Chief Executive of Donegal County Council. He paid tribute to the committee and all those involved in securing the title.
He said this success will have real dividends for the town and for the county………
