McIlroy loses world number one spot to Jason Day

Rory McIlroy 0815Jason Day has replaced Rory McIlroy as golf's world number one after winning the BMW Championship in style in Chicago.

The Australian, 27, finished with a birdie as he carded a two-under 69 to triumph on 22 under par, to leave him six strokes clear of the field.

Daniel Berger of the United States was second after a two-under 69, one ahead of compatriot Scott Piercy.

Northern Ireland's McIlroy finished with a 70 that left him in a tie for fourth on 14 under.
