A Donegal Councillor says many people are being left in limbo because it is taking months to review their eligibility for a medical card.
Cllr Ian Mc Garvey says reviews are taking place at a centralised office in Dublin, very often leaving people in severe pain because they cannot afford GP visits or drugs while their medical card status remains unresolved.
Cllr Mc Garvey says there needs to be a local or regional system which is quick and efficient, and if necessary, the issuing of temporary medical cards where reviews are delayed.
