Kris Meeke and Paul Nagle continue to fight at the front at Rally Australia on the WRC.
Having trailed the VW of Jari-Matti Latvala after day 1, the Citroën pair took the lead on the first run of the day, only to slip to second on the final stage.
The Tyrone driver completed the last stage 2.7sec slower than Sebastien Ogier and was furious at the time control with FIA officials.
He refused to make any comments to the waiting media.
Meeke ends the day second, 0.3sec behind the Volkswagen of new rally leader Ogier with Latvala a further 2.6sec back.
Four stages will decide the winner on Sunday’s final day.
